The form relieving grinder was originally invented by Mr. Orlie Dawson who sold his rights to the
Royal Oak Tool and Machine Company in 1954. They redesigned the machine and
marketed it under the name R-O division of the Royal Oak Tool and Machine Co. In
1960 the R-O Manufacturing Company was formed and located in Madison Heights, Michigan.
The company was purchased by the Seneca Falls Machine Co. in September of 1967 and moved to our Seneca Falls, New York plant the following month. The
R-O Form Relief Grinder has been technologically updated continuously and
manufactured here ever since, along with a number of enhancements of the Royal
Oak Grinders product line.
